JOB TITLE: PRINCIPAL ENGINEER / /Mechanical (HVAC) SystemsEngineer,

DUTIES:
Dene scope of technical programs and develop eectve, quality solutons to challenges which involve
unique or controversial problems. Creatvely meet all company and industry requirements and apply site
systems to achieve quality, tmely and cost-eectve results. Give quality guidance and assistance to less
senior professionals on related tasks.

Apply technical experience in eld of specializaton or broad-based experience in multple technical
elds, to resolve complex problems.

Incorporate advanced technical practces and a variety of complex features such as complicated
technical requirements, applicaton of new or special materials or processes and dicult coordinaton or
oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.

Provide leadership in determining solutons to complex problems and be recognized as having expertse
in a functonal area(s) of technical expertse.

Provide directon and positon responsibility both inside and outside department lines on programs
seeking new approaches to problems and new applicaton of existng engineering or scientc principles.

Evaluate the results of programs and prepares reports and recommendatons based on these
evaluatons.

Identfy and recommend improvements where established technology components and methodology
are inadequate for soluton.

Keep informed of the advancement of technology as applied through one's area of technology.

Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving technical tasks
idented by management.

Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work
performed.

Communicate results and objectves verbally and in manuscripts form to customers colleagues and
management.

Occasionally prepare reports for external publicaton.

Enhance expertse in eld through leadership in local technical societes.

Demonstrate creatve ability through medium of patent disclosures, problem solving, engineering
reports, technical papers and artcles.

Work Hours: Up to a 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utlizes various work schedules including
5/8s (8 hour/day; ve days per week), 4/10's (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80's (9
hours/day, ve days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each
workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtme will be expected at tmes to meet deliverables and will be
utlized at the discreton of the Manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education: Ph.D. degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5+ years' experience. OR A
MS with 8+ years' experience. OR A BS with 10+ years' experience or more.

Experience/Skills:
10 years HVAC Engineer experience with demonstrated HVAC subject mater expertsewith industrial and nuclear HVAC.
* Establish Technical Requirements by developing System Design Descriptons (SDD).
* Review Design packages from Design Agencies.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Area Security Access: : It is preferred but not required that the candidate be able to obtain and maintain a
DOE "Q" security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties.
After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work
assignments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are
preferred.
