Job Description

Position Overview:

This is an ARP R&D role that is responsible for manufacturing prototype molds, associated parts, as well as various other components. Responsibilities include reviewing designs for manufacturability, scheduling work, raw material preparation, CNC and manual machining, utilizing CAM software to enable CNC machining, facilitating equipment maintenance and ensuring shop housekeeping standards. Other duties may include design and 3D printing work. This position operates in a team environment, working together with Design personnel to support Container Development, Innovation, Pilot Operations and Testing.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manufactures prototype blow molds, associated components and various fixtures using CNC and manual machining equipment.
  • Programs CNC equipment using CAM software (Power Mill and Feature CAM) and/or G-code.
  • Prepares raw material for part manufacturing and works with vendors to maintain an inventory of standardized mold blanks.
  • Utilizes machining processes and techniques to ensure products are optimized for manufacturing efficiency and fitment in designated equipment platforms.
  • Understands project scope and collaborates with internal stakeholders to determine requirements to produce products on time, correct the first time, and within budget.
  • Utilizes Product Lifecyle Management (PLM) software and other tools to manage workflow, schedule, and capture key metrics.
  • May prepare and operate 3D Printing equipment.
  • Considers and recommends new methods and tools to improve workflow and ease of doing business.
  • Receives general direction on how to approach specific work assignments.
  • Exhibits willingness to learn, seeks feedback and corrects own performance.
  • Participates in corrective action plans and helps implement procedural improvements.
  • Develops relationships with vendors and other external partners.
  • Maintains machines, tools, and related equipment in an organized and functional state.
  • Understands, practices, and prioritizes safety rules and guidelines in accordance with Amcor's safety programs and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's Degree in manufacturing or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience with mold and die manufacturing using CNC and manual machining equipment and techniques.
  • Direct experience with Makino vertical machine centers preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience with CAM software and G-code.
  • Direct experience with Power Mill and Feature CAM software preferred.
  • Ability to work in a challenging environment while navigating competing priorities.
  • Ability to communicate with peers and stakeholders in everyday relationships.
  • Knowledge of 3D printing.
  • Gains independency through self-learning.
  • Traditional computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of injection molding and stretch blow molding machinery and plastics processing a plus.
  • Travel 5%
