Percent time:
17% to 100% depending on the number of coursed and additional duties assigned.
Anticipated start:
Spring 2025, Summer 2025, Fall 2026 or Spring 2026
Position duration:
Initial appointments will be for one semester or one year with the potential for reappointment based on meritorious performance, departmental needs and funding availability.

Position description

The Berkeley School of Education (BSE) at the University of California, Berkeley is home to a diverse group of students and faculty joined by their common interests in understanding and improving the complex world of education.

Students and faculty tackle difficult questions-from how children, youth and adults learn, inside and outside classrooms; to how schools, communities and societies advance the educational and life chances of those they educate. In the process, students develop the necessary knowledge, skills, tools and experiences to handle those challenges.

The BSE is generating an applicant pool of qualified temporary, part-time, non-tenure track Lecturers to teach in the MA/PhD Programs. Screening of applicants begins immediately and continues as needed. This is a pool recruitment that will be used to fill openings that occur during the Spring 2025, Summer 2025, Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters. The number of positions varies from semester to semester depending on program and departmental needs.

Teaching Responsibilities: We are seeking outstanding lecturers who can teach/co-teach courses in the MA/PhD Programs and can supervise student teachers in the following areas:



  • Critical Studies of Race, Class, and Gender
  • Learning Sciences and Human Development
  • Policy, Politics, and Leadership
  • Social Research Methodologies


General Duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials and other instructional related duties.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Doctoral or equivalent international degree or enrolled in an Doctoral or equivalent international degree program.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

  • Doctoral or equivalent international degree.
  • Experience with supervision and teaching practicum experience in a higher education setting

Preferred qualifications

Experience with supervision and teaching practicum experience in the following areas: Critical Studies of Race, Class, and Gender; Learning Sciences and Human Development; Policy, Politics, and Leadership and or Social Research Methodologies
