Carnegie Mellon University's department ofMechanical Engineering is searching for a Research Associate to join their team. This is an exciting opportunityfor someone whothrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You willcontributeto the department by assisting in the development and execution of research projects including experiment design, analysis of data collected, summarizing experiment results and such other tasks that are assigned to you.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Uses a variety of software packages to input, manipulate, collect, and record results or observations.
  • Performs research experiments following experimental protocol and procedures.
  • Researches and documents information by compiling and maintaining accurate and detailed records.
  • Summarizes statistical information for analysis, examination or presentation and writes technical reports.
  • May build and validate quantitative models.
  • Identifies problems and obstacles to progress; develops strategies to solve problems.
  • May program software in support of job functions
  • Attends project meetings.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required.
  • Research experience in a lab required.
  • Research methodology experience required.
  • Data collection and analysis experience required.
  • Strong problem-solving and reasoning skills required.
  • Strong analytical skills required.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
