Role Summary

About Rivian's Stanton Springs North Plant:

Proudly Made in Georgia. Rivian is dedicated to creating a more sustainable future, and our Stanton Spring North Plant in Georgia will be instrumental in achieving this vision. This unique greenfield opportunity involves creating the state-of-the-art facility's HVAC and Plumbing Design. This plant will employ over 7,000 people and serve as the production plant for Rivian's Compact SUV, the R3, coming in 2028.

About Rivian's Facilities Production Design Team:

Our team plans and oversees the design and construction quality of Rivian's global portfolio of production facilities. We are a diverse group of Architects, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), Fire Protection, Process, Chemical, Structural, and Civil Engineers, along with Technical Subject Matter Experts and Building Specialists. Together, we build world-class facilities that enable Rivian to scale. We challenge the status quo and deliver innovative, cost-efficient solutions to complex problems across Rivian's existing and proposed vehicle production facilities.

About this Role:

The Construction Quality Control Senior Lead will be the Quality and Commissioning Program Leader for all of Rivian's Facilities Production programs. This role will ensure that all designs, contracts, and construction activities are executed as required to meet Rivian standards, local regulations, and industry standards. This person will provide quality assurance and commissioning services to the construction team and report to the VP of Production Facilities. This role can be elevated to a Director level. Facilities and equipment that this role will impact:

  • Structural Systems: Soil conditioning, foundations, concrete slabs, steel and concrete structures, roofing systems, fire walls.

  • Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Systems: All types of pressurized and non-pressurized piping and duct, electrical distribution systems, lighting, controls, fire suppression/ detection/ notification.

  • Equipment: Compressors, dryers, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, heat exchangers, valves, pumps, blowers, substations, transformers, Wastewater treatment systems, air handling units.


Responsibilities

Providing Construction Quality Expertise:

  • Responsible for quality manager vendor RFP development, identifying key discipline knowledge, site presence, and reporting.
  • Responsible for the Development and Execution of Rivian Quality Assurance Playbook for world class quality program.
  • Responsible for the review of contract documents and procurement, pre-bid conferences, and evaluations, as aligned with Quality
  • Advise the team on equipment and material vendor selection, as well developing and executing Factory Acceptance Tests and offsite fabrication audits.
  • Implement and enforce a quality audit program, oversee contractor corrective actions, and ensure a quality project conforming to plans and specifications.
  • Ensure design and construction are compliant with all applicable Rivian, local authority, and industry standards.

Being a Program Leader:

  • Construction Quality Program Leader for all Rivian Facilities Production programs.
  • Focus: Commissioning, Construction Quality, Program Documentation, and closeout.
  • Act as a technical authority on material selection, construction quality, commissioning, and permitting
  • Program responsibility covers from design through construction and operations (warranty & maintenance).
  • Coordinate activities with other Rivian staff, departments, and public agencies.
  • Support and provide "customer service mentality" for multiple internal stakeholders effectively
  • Assess the quality and commissioning effectiveness of contractors.
  • Lead projects "the Rivian way," providing professional influence on the work exemplifying respect, leadership, commitment, vision and teamwork.
  • Manage multiple contracted vendors across multiple programs, projects and phases concurrently.

Commissioning:

  • Responsible for L0-L6 commissioning vendor scope and contracting, coordinated with general contractor and AEOR scope of works.
  • Review all design deliverables and attend design reviews as a key stakeholder to ensure constructibility, commissioning, quality material selection and market availability, and cost and schedule efficiency.
  • Chair quality and commissioning meetings, complete quality reports, and deliver presentations, as required.
  • Manage system commissioning activities and punch list closures through contractor coordination, execution, and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
  • Experience: At least 10 years of experience managing quality and commissioning projects of similar size and complexity.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Ability to plan, coordinate, and provide leadership in the execution of complex, fast-paced and/or unorthodox construction projects.
    • Ability to manage multiple programs, projects and issues effectively.
    • Written and oral communication skills and technical skills to support decisions and recommendations.
    • Knowledge of engineering drawings and specifications related to manufacturing or process systems, clean rooms, industrial equipment.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with and manage construction contractors, vendors, and consultants.
    • Demonstrated expertise in industrial standards for quality assurance, material selection, commissioning procedures, and system permitting requirements.
  • Physical:
    • Ability to spend extended hours walking construction sites, accessing difficult to reach areas via scaffolding, temporary stairs, or self-propelled/drivable man lifts, and push-around man lifts.
    • Ability to visit contractors' offsite locations and attend meetings at multiple offices.
    • Exposure to outdoors, dust, high noise levels, hot and cold weather is likely.
    • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is mandatory.
  • Travel: Ability to travel to Rivian's Plant in Normal, Illinois, to Rivian's future Midtown Atlanta office, and to the Stanton Springs North Plant in Social Circle, Georgia.

  • Relocation: Ability to eventually work at Rivian's Stanton Springs North Plant or the ability to relocate to the Social Circle area for the role. Note: Relocation would be provided by Rivian.

Preferred:

  • Experience:
    • Heavy industry experience such as oil and gas, automotive, semiconductor and mining, is preferable.
    • Experience with Construction Quality Management (CQM) systems such as Procore or Autodesk Construction Cloud is preferred.
    • Engineering Drawing and Specifications Knowledge
    • Manufacturing or process systems, clean rooms, industrial equipment
    • Ability to work with and manage construction contractors, vendors, and consultants
    • Demonstrated expertise in industrial standards for quality assurance, material selection, commissioning procedures, and system permitting requirements

Pay Disclosure

Pay Range for Rivian Applicants: $145,400 - $181,700

Note: Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law.

Rivian's Benefits: Rivian provides robust medical, prescription, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Full Time Employee coverage is effective on the first day of employment.

Part-Time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
