ACARA Solutions and our client in Middletown, RI have a contract to hire position available

Senior Mechanical Engineer

  • As a mechanical engineer for the Tactical Hardware business area, you'll be a cross-functional team member responsible for designing, building, and testing a torpedo tube deployment system capable of launching payloads from a submarine platform.
  • Design electro-mechanical systems capable of surviving harsh environmental conditions (shock, vibration, temperature).
  • Position is intended to be a long-term role with possibility of direct position
  • Hybrid work model (3 days minimum on-site per week)
  • 9/80 schedule option
  • Secret clearance needed within a reasonable amount of time after start date
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Science or Engineering or Mathematics.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in leading complex projects with successful outcomes.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in writing technical papers and proposals.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in Mechanical Design.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in CAD (SolidWorks or CREO).
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree.
  • Proficiency in utilizing CAD tools to create 3D models and drawings for technical data packages that meet ASME Y14.5 and ASME Y14.100 standards
  • Experience performing structural and thermal analyses to meet submarine environmental requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency with modeling CAD tools to create mechanical models and drawings
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods, as well as technical, government, and industry standards
  • Collaborative, creative thinker.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development for yourself and others.
  • Have a defense industry background
  • Good drafting background (ASME Y14.100, ASME Y14.5).
  • Familiar with designing for defense applications (environmental requirements - shock, vibration, temp).
