Description

Remote position with the ability to travel to our NJ and NY locations up to 25% of the time.

Position Summary: The Data Architect will lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive data strategy. In this role, you will focus on leveraging the organization's existing data stored across multiple applications to drive strategic decision-making, optimize operations, and improve data accessibility. You will play a critical role in developing and aligning the data architecture to meet current and future business needs while ensuring integration across systems.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Data Architecture Design: As a Data Architect, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our data architecture strategy. You will collaborate closely with various teams to ensure that our data architecture supports our business goals and leverages existing data from various applications to provide meaningful insights and also industry standards, enabling us to excel in the market.
  • Data Modeling: You will create and optimize data models for transactional, operational, and analytical systems. Your expertise in data modeling will ensure data consistency and reliability, enabling flawless data analysis and reporting.
  • Data Integration: Designing and implementing end-to-end data integration solutions will be a key aspect of your role. You will consolidate data from various sources into a cohesive and accessible data environment, using the latest Azure modern data stack technologies.
  • Data Governance: You will establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Your attention to detail and dedication to data integrity will be crucial in maintaining a world-class data environment.
  • Technology Evaluation: Constantly assessing and recommending new data technologies and tools will be part of your responsibilities. Your expertise will enhance our data infrastructure and capabilities, ensuring that we stay ahead of the curve in the rapidly evolving field of data architecture.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with key stakeholders, including business leaders, product teams, and technical teams, to ensure the data architecture supports business objectives. By understanding their data needs and providing technical guidance, you will ensure the seamless integration of data solutions throughout the organization.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitoring and optimizing data architecture performance will be essential. You will identify and resolve any issues to ensure efficient data processing and storage, allowing us to make data-driven decisions without any bottlenecks.
  • Data Quality and Integrity: Implement processes to ensure data accuracy, quality, and integrity, and address issues related to data redundancy, inconsistencies, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Documentation: Maintaining comprehensive documentation of our data architecture, models, and processes will be a crucial part of your role. This documentation will serve as a valuable reference and training resource for our team.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor industry trends and evolving technologies, and continuously refine the data architecture and strategy to enhance capabilities.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data professionals and other team members.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent training and/or experience required.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or a related domain required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Data Architect required.
  • Extensive experience within the insurance industry is strongly preferred.


Skills:

  • Expertise in data modeling, database design, and data warehousing.
  • Extensive experience with Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL. Database / Azure SQL Managed Instance, Logic Apps / SSIS.
  • Proficiency in AWS cloud services: S3, EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift.
  • Power Automate / Power BI / DAX.
  • Proficiency in Web Services / REST APIs / JSON.
  • Strong knowledge of ETL processes, data integration techniques, and data governance frameworks.
  • Advanced skills in SQL for database management and data manipulation.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, or R.
  • Familiarity with machine learning and AI integration for predictive analytics.
  • Microsoft technical certifications relative to Azure and Data and Analytics.
  • Experience with or knowledge of Agile Software Development methodologies.
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Prior management experience is a plus.
  • Process-oriented with great documentation skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a keen sense of customer service.



The salary range for this role is$128,100-$249,900. The listed annual salary range posted for this position is subject to change and may vary depending on performance, education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, demonstrated proficiency in the competencies required for the role and business needs. Base pay is just one component of GNY's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards include eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus based on performance.
