Program Underwriting Manager - Property and Casualty

The Program Underwriting Manager - P&C is responsible for the product management of admitted and non-admitted P&C package products (both ISO and manuscript) distributed across delegated underwriting authorities within the North American Programs department, the overall management of assigned programs, and the support in evaluation of new program submissions.

What will you do in this role?

Product Management

  • Responsible for product management for P&C package products across programs, including those that you do not directly manage, in consultation with internal stakeholders and adjacent product managers.
  • Evaluate and approve P&C product development and rate/rule/form changes within the department. Supervise filings and regulatory compliance with internal stakeholders.
  • Determine product competitiveness, pricing efficacy and market acceptance for P&C products.

Program Management

  • Overall management of assigned programs, to include responsibility for development, implementation, and monitoring of business plans, coordination of AXIS resources, and achievement of financial goals.
  • Manage delegated underwriting authority for assigned programs by maintaining program management agreements and underwriting guidelines. Conduct routine underwriting and rate/rule/form audits in order to ensure compliance.
  • Underwrite P&C package referral accounts across the department leveraging internal resources when appropriate.
  • Identify and deliver expansion of AXIS product offering with existing programs.
  • Train fellow Program Underwriting Managers with responsibility for programs with P&C package products on best-in-class underwriting strategy.

You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

About You:

What you need to have:
  • Deep expertise in P&C package products to include coverage, policy construction, and rating.
  • Familiarity with ISONet and navigating the Commercial Lines Manual
  • Direct experience in underwriting and managing Delegated Underwriting Authority (PAs, MGAs, MGUs).
  • At least 8 years of experience in underwriting Commercial P&C in higher risk segments of business.
  • Ability to negotiate contracts, develop business plans, and manage external & internal stakeholders in the deliverance of business plans.
  • In-depth financial and underwriting understanding of programs business, with the ability to assess and develop financial projections and forecasts on existing and prospective programs.
  • Intermediate skill in Excel, PowerBI, PowerPoint, and Word.

Role Factors:

In this role, you will typically be required to:

  • Work in the New York office Tuesday-Thursday
  • Travel domestically 1-2 times per quarter
  • Attend industry events over weekends occasionally

What we offer:

For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary at or around $240,000 (NY), A salary offer will be based on an assessment of various factors, including specific experience and work location.

In addition, you will be offered target incentive compensation, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
