Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Sous Chef for the department of Dining Services.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Oversees food production, ensures that all food is produced in a timely manner to meet needs, and presents in an attractive and appealing style.
- Oversees kitchen personnel in the production of hot and cold food, in the cleaning of food preparation areas, and in the control of food costs.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Requires a high school/vocational school education or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience, and a minimum of four years of high volume food service experience.

Certifications/Licenses |
- Requires ServSafe certification, or certification within one year of employment.
- Must pass Food Handler's Certification.
|
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Food communication skills and computer literacy in industry standard software.
- Must be able to read and follow standardized recipes and production worksheets.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Prefers a degree in culinary arts.
|
Equipment Utilized |
- Utilizes industrial kitchen equipment and FoodPro proprietary food production, planning and control system.

Physical Demands and Work Environment |
