Encova Insurance will have a need for an Intern, Information Security Services for either our Charleston, WV or Columbus, Ohio office. This is a full-time summer internship for the 2025 summer and will require someone who can work at least 40 hours per week. Start and end dates will be based on availability and business need. You will have the option to work a hybrid schedule with the possibility of remote. Must be currently enrolled and have completed at least 60 credit hours with an accredited college or university.

This role will report to the Identity and Access Management (IAM) Manager.

Pay=$22.00 per hour

JOB OBJECTIVE:

This intern position is with the Identity and Access Management team, within the Encova Information Security group. Managing identities is a key cornerstone of any successful Information Security program. As corporate environments continue to utilize cloud technologies and DevOps style management the provisioning, de-provisioning and (especially) the governance of all the various identities across the enterprise is crucial.

This position will have the opportunity to work with the Encova modernized IAM platform, including but not limited to: provisioning & de-provisioning process, Governance methodologies, single sign-on (SSO), multifactor authentication (MFA), privileged access management (PAM) platform, and other areas. These technologies are crucial to enable the business and drive the efficient and effective application of security controls.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work in a team-based environment to continually improve the IAM process and environment.
  • Engage with business units to define requirements and optimize IAM processes
  • Participate in Enterprise level projects to refine roles-based access control (RBAC), platform integrations, and continuous improvement of the IAM platform.
  • Perform security incident triage, to include determining scope, urgency, and potential impact; identifying the specific privilege or access control issue; and making recommendations that enable expeditious remediation.
  • Work on various Information Security projects and initiatives, including audit and compliance coordination.
  • Perform user account clean-up.
  • Perform security platform clean-up, including process automation and orchestration.
  • Build reports, dashboards, and alerts in IAM tools for Senior Leadership.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have completed at least 60 credit hours with an accredited college or university.
  • Must be actively enrolled and pursuing a degree. Preference may be given to IT Management or related major.
  • Demonstrates analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills to identify and deliver high performing solutions.
  • Demonstrates verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express technical concepts in understandable business terms.
  • Exposure to basic security concepts, including authentication and authorization
  • Exposure in researching information security solutions and best practices
  • Technical proficiency in both Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Basic scripting or coding skills a plus.
  • Be open to new ideas and sharing opinions.
