The Educator and Enrichment Coordinator is responsible for managing and enhancing the mentoring program by overseeing the screening, training, and continuous support of volunteer mentors and youth participants. This role is dedicated to ensuring child safety and fostering positive youth development by nurturing strong, trust-based relationships. The Coordinator provides a high standard of customer service and support to volunteer mentors, youth, and families at all stages of the mentoring process, ensuring an enriching and secure experience.

In addition, this position also serves as the educational leader for the school-age program. This includes assessing, designing, and implementing professional development opportunities tailored to school-age staff. The Educator and Enrichment Coordinator will develop both community-based and individualized learning opportunities to enhance staff knowledge, skills, and engagement, thereby promoting excellence in youth education and enrichment.

Essential Job Duties



  • Oversight and management of The Mill City Mentor program grant.
  • Partner with the Volunteer Center to support recruitment efforts that attract a diverse pool of mentors.
  • Assess volunteer mentors for suitability and commitment to the program.
  • Facilitate orientation and training programs for mentors, mentees, and their families, ensuring comprehensive program understanding and preparation.
  • Oversee youth and family enrollment for mentoring services.
  • Review and verify references for mentors.
  • Review enrollment information, match mentors to program needs, and coordinate mentoring schedules and locations.
  • Provide detailed assessments and support recommendations for volunteer mentors and youth.
  • Regularly assess the match relationships between volunteer mentors and youth.
  • Support program to coordinate field trip and recreation scheduling.
  • Partner with Human Resources to support recruitment efforts that attract a diverse pool of qualified School Age Staff.
  • Analyze and identify professional development opportunities that enhance the skills and competencies of school-age program staff.
  • Development and oversight of staff orientation that meets the standards set forth by regulatory expectations.
  • Organize and coordinate required competencies for professional development, including training days mandated by the MA Department of Early Education and Care for school-age staff.

  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned to support program goals and agency initiatives.


Qualifications



  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with child and adult populations required. Training or coaching practices experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Knowledge working with low income, culturally diverse, and at-risk youth and families.
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent relational assessment skills. High level interviewing skills needed.
  • Ability to form and sustain appropriate working relationships with youth, volunteer mentors, partners and school age program staff.
  • Ability to maintain accurate, confidential records and case contact notes.
  • Proficient computer skills required in Microsoft Office and data collection systems.
  • Some evenings required; flexibility is required.
  • Bilingual Spanish, Creole, Khmer, Portuguese preferred
