Position Summary

We're looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented and collaborative individual to join the WRC staff team and lead our Violence Prevention efforts. The Women's Resource Center is a place of advocacy, support, and safety for all members of the University of New Mexico and greater community. This individual will lead our coalition to prevent and improve our response to gender-based violence on campus.

This position will specifically work as the Program Specialist for our Campus Grant #A23-0191 from the Office of Violence Against Women (OVW) at the Department of Justice to reduce instances of sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. We are halfway through a three-year grant cycle and this Specialist will see through the Strategic Plan of this grant work on campus.

The Program Specialist will work closely with the P.I. of the OVW Grant, Project Supervisor, Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT) members, and WRC staff in ensuring new initiatives stay in compliance with the university policy and WRC operations.

Job Duties:

  • Grant planning and administration, budget management and control, program implementation and administration, and program marketing.
  • Oversees and administers all facets of the day-to-day operations of the working groups and Prevention Education Program Assistants (student employees).
  • Plans and coordinates the development, implementation, and execution of the CCRT activities, developing new materials as needed.
  • Budget preparation, cost estimating, monitoring, and fiscal management principles and procedures.
  • Serves as a liaison with internal and external constituencies on all matters relating to program activities, specifically with the Office of Violence Against Women at the Department of Justice, and Internal and External MOU Partners.
  • Plans, develops, and implements strategies for identifying and generating funding to Institutionalize grant activities upon grant completion. To include development of grant and other fundraising proposals.
  • Provides and/or coordinates the provision of Training and Technical Assistance as outlined in the grant.
  • Creates, produces, and delivers a range of promotional, educational, and informational presentations, and/or resource materials related to program activities and initiatives.
  • Oversees and/or coordinates the collection, compilation, and analysis of program activity data; develops, writes, edits, and presents comprehensive statistical and narrative program reports and evaluations.
  • Advises on operating goals and objectives for the program; identifies opportunities to enhance program operations to achieve greater efficiencies and effectiveness and to fulfill program objectives outlined within the contract/grant.
  • Attend WRC Team meetings and support the life of the center through providing student resource navigation, social media content creation, and office duties
  • May serve as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience planning and leading group meetings, delivering public presentations.
  • Passion for gender-based violence prevention, experience with consent education.
  • Knowledge of contracts and grants preparation and management.
  • Knowledge of budget preparation, cost estimating, monitoring, and fiscal management principles and procedures.
  • Ability to contribute to and foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
  • Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to provide technical coordination and management of development and/or implementation projects in area of expertise.
  • Program planning and implementation skills.
  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of management principles and practices.
  • Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
