Open Rank/Emergency Medical Technician Lecturer

The UNM-Taos EMS Education Program
invites applicants to apply for full-time, 9- month, Lecturer (dependent on credentials) faculty position. EMS
faculty at UNM-Taos provide quality education for students in northern New
Mexico, preparing EMS providers who are compassionate, knowledgeable, and
competent in providing care for our diverse community. Salary runs $58,000-$62,000
depending on education and qualifications.

The position provides coordination
and instruction for the students entering into and throughout the Associate
of Science Degree in EMS, as well as EMS certification courses (Basic and
AEMT). Instructional responsibilities include classroom, lab, clinical,
office hours, and simulation using widely accepted learning theory and
methodologies. Service and scholarship responsibilities include, but are not
limited to, clinical coordination and oversight, student mentoring and
advising, and participation in University, EMS Education program, or EMS
organizational committees and activities to ensure program outcomes and
achievements. All full-time continuing faculty positions have both
instructional and non-instructional responsibilities.

The position requires
utilization of technology for instruction and communication, a commitment to
student success for our rural and diverse population, and use of effective
interpersonal, leadership and organization skills. This full-time
faculty position provides instruction for University of New Mexico (UNM)-Taos
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Education Program offerings, and
participates in program planning, implementation, evaluation, and related
efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires clinical experience in the field of prehospital emergency medicine, EMS instructor certification, and teaching experience.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in EMS or relevant field
• Current New Mexico Instructor/Coordinator II (NM EMS I/C II) certification with UNM-EMS Academy affiliation
• At least 3 years of relevant clinical experience as an EMS provider
• At least 1 year of teaching experience in a post-secondary institution
• A current, unencumbered New Mexico paramedic license
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in EMS or relevant field
• At least 5 years of relevant clinical experience as an EMS provider
• At least 3 years teaching experience in a post-secondary institution
• Teaching experience in a community college
• CPR/BLS, ACLS, PALS instructor certifications
• Demonstrated ability to work in a professional and collaborative team environment (Professional Learning Community)
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities, such as Tribal communities and/or Hispanic communities.
