The Department of Cell Biology, at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, is seeking an eager and self-motivated Lab Specialist to work in Dr. Sameer Bajikar's laboratory (www.bajikarlab.com). The lab is studying the underlying causes of neurodevelopmental disorders. Research projects involve the development and characterization of new cellular and rodent models and tools to study neurodevelopmental disorders. The Lab Specialist will work closely with Dr. Bajikar and other lab members to complete experiments in support of the ongoing research projects. Duties include:
Minimum Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree Experience: At least three years of experience, which may include experience gained while a student. Preferred Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in a biology-related discipline Experience: Experience in molecular biology techniques, such as PCR and immunoblotting. Experience in either: 1) cell culture or 2) mouse colony management. Must be willing to work with mice Physical Demands This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation. Application Instructions: Apply Now.
