Job Description:
General Description: Plans, organizes, directs, defines and controls services provided with the Behavioral Health Program. Must demonstrate an ability to provide specified services to meet the legal, organizational, hospital and medical staff guidelines.

- Program Operations: Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for department.
- Provides leadership for Behavioral Health programming and development across assigned departments
- Provides leadership to effectively manage department operations as measured through FTE's, Core Measures and financial expectations being met on an annual basis
- Service: Leads Customer and Patient Satisfaction process.
- Develops customer and patient satisfaction process; tracking for follow-up monthly
- Demonstrates respect to customer and patient
- Define and implement service excellence standards
- Seeks to educate customers and patients
- Takes action to meet customer needs and concerns as evidenced by written action plans
- Finance: Demonstrates responsibility and accountability in managing productivity standards.
- Monitors departmental revenues monthly and annually initiates action plans as appropriate to meet financial targets and goals
- Monitors and optimizes expense controls monthly and annually initiates action plans as evidenced through monthly MOR
- Work to maximize productivity and service delivery
- Demonstrates knowledge of key financial indicators as evidenced through meeting budget parameters annually and instituting action plans monthly if not meeting budgeted targets
- People: Provides leadership for the delivery of safe and quality care across Behavioral Health services.
- Manages performance through regular reviews for direct reports at 90 day, 6 month and yearly process
- Provides leadership in managing, facilitating and communicating organizational goals both internally and externally
- Ensures new employees are oriented to specific job duties through review of orientation checklist within 90 days of hire
- Operates with integrity by being accountable to timelines and deadlines
- Remains open to ideas through holding open forums with staff quarterly to solicit ideas
- Team Building: Provides leadership to build a successful team.
- Develops direction for staff; provides written annual plan
- Develops structure; provides written annual plan
- Facilities goal setting; provides written annual plan
- Involves others in decision making process throughout above written plan formulation
- Performance Improvement: Provides methods and metrics to measure PI along with facility process.
- Develop PI dashboard
- Implement PI plan
- Participate in facility PI process
- Work to establish proven outcomes process
- Integrity: Incorporates the values of the Ethics and Compliance program of the facility.
- Behaves ethically and honestly as demonstrated through training / education modules
- Fosters trust in relationships; no employee complaints without resolution as dictated through action plans
- Allocates resources effectively and ethically OU Health standards and regulatory standards
- Actions consistent with code of conduct
- Communication: Demonstrates effective communication skills to deliver appropriate message concerning unit operations.
- Communicates with physician leaders, e.g., Psychiatrist(s), Hospitalist(s), Residents
- Communicates with staff (see People section above)
- Communicates with customer and patients (see People section above)
- Business Development: Leads business development efforts for assigned departments.
- Participates in the development of business development plans. Business plan to be completed annual by end of January in conjunction with Business Development designee / staff, with measurable objective goals. Monthly reports to follow.
- Promotes practical business development methods
- Sets realistic but aggressive business development goals
- Monitors business development efforts
- Growth: Meet or exceed program performance expectations.
- Quality: Maintains enterprise quality standards and metrics.
- Implement core measures
- Maintains compliance to local, state and federal compliance agencies

- Patient Treatment Program standards are met
General Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: Education:
- Master's degree in Nursing, Business, Healthcare Administration or relevant field of study required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing required.
Experience: 5 to 7 years of progressive leadership experience required, with at least 5 years experience in the psychiatric or behavioral health field. License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required:
- Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC) with established Oklahoma residency within 6 months.
- Specialty certification in RN Leadership or Behavioral Health preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated excellence in the principles of behavioral health administration.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, manage, promote and thoroughly evaluate an inpatient service program.
- Knowledge of academic medical center structure, service-line structures, institutional governance and hierarchy of decision process.
- Skills in planning, coordinating and measuring departmental activities.
- Demonstrated business acumen and managerial functions such as experience with performance improvement tools, using metrics to drive decisions, maintain a budget, report writing and solve practical problems.
- Ability to leverage resources, including technology, to manage multiple competing priorities and deliver on organizational goals.
- Knowledge of industry standards to aid strategic decisions, problem solve and calculate risk.
- Ability to think creatively and strategically to successfully mediate with individuals/groups.
- Cognizant of unconscious and systemic bias in care delivery and business operations.
- Demonstrated ability to overcome obstacles to cooperation and to foster harmonious relations.
- Ability to maintain integrity and trust among leadership and staff.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate individuals, groups/cross-functional teams and provide project management support.
- Strong written and oral communication skills characterized by candor, openness, integrity and ability to be diplomatic.
