Huntsman is seeking an R&D Process Engineer to join our Pilot Plant located in San Antonio, Texas.

Job Scope

This is a great opportunity for someone who has experience working in a R&D Facility, Greenfield Startups, Pilot Plant, and/or Chemical Manufacturing environment. This position will work directly with Technical Leadership contributing to the development and commercialization of specialty chemical products (carbon materials). You will design and push R&D projects scaling up the commercialization of Huntsman's Miralon Technology. We are looking for someone that has experience working in some of the following fields Chemical Vapor Deposition, High temperature processes, Greenfield Startups. The R&D Chemical Engineer will contribute to the development and commercialization of specialty chemical products (carbon material) while adhering to all Health & Safety regulations. This position will work within a technical team of scientists/technicians/engineers with guidance coming directly from a Technical Manager. Successful candidates have worked in a manufacturing environment and have experience working in a commercial R&D laboratory or pilot plant facility. The position will involve applying knowledge of organic chemistry, chemical analyses, catalysts, and filtration. They will be responsible for pushing R&D projects to successful completion, inclusive of timelines, resource allocation and capabilities. Must demonstrate the ability to design and carry out experimental programs, be able to communicate and interact effectively with multi-functional, multi-national and diverse backgrounds, both internally and externally. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior management and customers.

As theR&D Process Engineer you will:

Serve as R&D Process Engineering/Development representative with functional or cross-functional teams to accomplish objectives of innovation projects.

Simulate, develop, and optimize processes to fully leverage varying manufacturing capabilities at domestic sites.

Plan and execute experiments to scale products from the bench-top through commercial manufacturing.

Apply understanding of instrumentation, process control, and unit operations toward development of Functional Requirements governing process design and control.

Prioritize project tasks based on business value and strategy while setting resource needs for executing against commitments on project timing.

Apply structured problem analysis to provide timely, risk compensated, and data-based solutions to product and process issues.

Lead the delivery of multiple projects across several markets and technology platforms.

Liaison with colleagues across the R&D and manufacturing to provide technical support.

Maintain complete and accurate records of experiments and results.

Participate and comply with all lab safety policies and procedures to maintain safe work environment.

Required Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering or similar engineering or chemistry background with 3+ years of experience in manufacturing and a commercial R&D environment.

Experience with materials characterization (nanomaterial characterization experience preferred) and organic synthesis.

Skills & Knowledge

Must have experience in technical writing, Process and Quality Control Documentation, and Technical Presentations.

Must be familiar with Process Engineering, reaction kinetics and modeling, chemical analysis methods, thermodynamics, and process optimization.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with chemical vapor deposition, milling operations, high temperature operations, green field pilot startups.

Software Packages such as, SAP, ASPEN, MINITAB and MS Office.

Travel Requirements

25% travel to plants, tollers and customer sites for execution of projects is expected.
