About this role

Women in Recovery (WIR) Therapist provides direct, gender-specific individual and group counseling, family and relationship counseling services within a day treatment format to participants; with emphasis on recovery from substance abuse, role-modeling, women only groups, trauma, health and wellness, parenting and family reunification. Therapist maintains and cultivates relationships with external agencies, such as court personnel, ancillary service providers, referring agencies, etc.

Women in Recovery (WIR) is an intensive outpatient alternative for eligible women facing long prison sentences. Therapist works closely with the criminal justice system and various community partners to ensure WIR program participants receive supervision, substance abuse and mental health treatment, education, workforce readiness training and family reunification services. This program changes lives but also carries far reaching benefits such as strengthening individuals and whole families that has lasting impact for generations, breaks the cycle of intergenerational incarceration and helps women become productive and responsible citizens.

WIR Therapists engage in helping women conquer their drug addiction, recover from trauma and acquire the essential economic, emotional and social tools to build successful and productive lives. Therapist requirements



  • A Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology or its equivalent from an accredited school.
  • Knowledge and experience in individual, group and family therapy.
  • Must have or be under supervision as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor or have drug/alcohol treatment experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in conducting mental health assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Must demonstrate a clinical family systems orientation, competency about motivational interviewing, stages/process of change, the elements of the stages/phases of recovery, and ability to work with diverse populations with multiplicity of problems.
  • Experience working with court systems and gender-specific treatment a plus.
  • Must possess a valid Driver License and satisfactory driving record and use personal automobile to travel to locations other than primary office. [Mileage reimbursement provided*]



CCBHC Model of Care

Family & Children's Services works to heal hurting and abused children, strengthen families, and provide hope and a path to recovery for those battling mental illness and addiction. You will be working in an innovative and dynamic environment using a new transformative model of care Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). This model is characterized by innovative, team-based approach and whole person care for adults and children with a range of complex mental health and substance use challenges.

Utilizing multi-disciplinary teams, staff work collaboratively to provide a coordinated effort to enhance client recovery. Robust CCBHC services often result in better client outcomes and quality of care due to:



  1. Increased access to care and crisis services
  2. Expanded traditional community mental health and substance use services.
  3. Added Care Coordination and physical health screening for mental health clients
  4. Greater access to Social Services for clients' economic and social needs
  5. Increased specialized services for veterans, those most in need, and those impacted by the opioid crisis.
