Position Summary: The purpose of this job is to provide technical project management and leadership on application maintenance and support of multiple applications, including Guidewire, GhostDraft, API, ImageRight, and Data Lake solutions.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive resolution to Problems, Incidents, and Outages Impacting Underwriting and Billing applications by coordinating activities with aligned GNY IT employees, Production Support Contractors, and the GNY Help desk support team.
  • Partner with Business (Underwriting and Billing) and IT (Development, QA, IT Operations and Helpdesk) to drive resolution to issues and problems.
  • Serve as Business Relationship Manager for a team of GNY and vendor Developers and testers within the GNY IT department. This team specializes in Guidewire, GOSU, .NET, Core Java, XML, SQL, GhostDraft, and other niche technologies.
  • Lead maintenance and security projects for GNY IT applications by coordinating with IT Operations and Application Development teams
  • Coordinate the Release Management process with other Release Managers, Approvers, Developers, and GNY IT infrastructure team.
  • Serve as the Interface with GNY enterprise resources including GNY IT operations to drive and coordinate projects. Interface with vendor representatives for 3rdparty applications while coordinating maintenance and security upgrades and resolving system outages.
  • Prioritize, manage, and ensure the development and implementation of problem trackers and small changes.
  • Analyze business and technology requirements and outline the proposed technology solution.
  • Drive resolution to outages and performance issues including rotation of resources on call responsibilities for weeknight, batch overnight, and weekends.
  • Collaborate closely with IT management in project prioritization / planning to understand future resource needs
  • Run weekly ticket technical review meetings with IT and business and assist with ticket prioritization.
  • Help determine which items can be added to each monthly bundle and adjust based on unforeseen need.
  • Act as an escalation point for all issues deems appropriate by business.
  • Work with various teams to make sure release requests are complete and on time.
  • Promote effective teamwork and the use of knowledge management processes and tools
  • Ensure clear metrics are defined, implemented and tracked to measure performance, skills, throughput and quality of development work
  • Maintains and communicates an effective release schedule.
  • Establishes strong relationships by working closely with project managers, technical leads and test leads to track project statuses.
  • Oversees release validation to ensure the release is operating as expected.
  • Conducts release sunset reviews to determine what went well and what needs improvement.
  • Ensures SOX and Audit requirements are met with each release and establishes\enhances processes to ensure compliance.
  • Manages the software code lifecycle including the versioning, merging and migration of source code.
  • Manages, automates, and maintains the build process.
  • Proactively identifies issues and determines effective resolutions.
  • Responsible to clearly communicating project issues, decisions, deliverables, and progress across teams and to senior management.
  • Work with technology teams for integrations with internal systems and external 3rd party platforms.
  • Mentor, coach, develop, and encourage excellence from teams.
  • Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in computer science/information technology or equivalent is required
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in application development, maintenance and support is required
  • Minimum of 12 years in financial or Insurance Industry is required. Commercial Insurance lines of business product experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of application maintenance and support experience leading teams in agile environment is required.
  • Experience with the project lifecycle and the application development lifecycle
  • Knowledge of design and programming techniques
  • Experience with staff augmentation within the IT Industry
  • Knowledge of version and revision control practices and procedures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels within the organization
  • Experience leading a team of application developers
  • Experience with providing guidance and direction to staff
  • Experience in initiating, conducting and facilitating discussions with multiple stakeholders, and ability to translate the results and issues at hand to the business and to the IT teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with ITIL framework and production workflow tracking software and Jira


Skills:

  • Strong ability to lead production support and maintenance teams.
  • Ability to manage day-to-day activities and demonstrate ability to resolve problems.
  • Demonstrate positive attitude and the ability to provide clear and concise directions in ambiguous situations.
  • Comfortable in managing and balancing multiple activities and fast deadlines while maintaining professional demeanor.
  • Excellent written, presentation, and verbal skills capable of communicating with all levels of leadership including c-level executives.
  • Ability to develop strong relationship within GNY IT department, GNY Business teams, and across all vendor partners.



Other Requirements:

  • Primary work location is in Edison, NJ. Hybrid work schedule will be accommodated.
  • Willing to travel to NJ or NY office location for project needs.


The salary range for this role is $145,100-$220,000. The listed annual salary range posted for this position is subject to change and may vary depending on performance, education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, demonstrated proficiency in the competencies required for the role and business needs. Base pay is just one component of GNY's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards include eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus based on performance.
