Student Activities Manager
Position Overview: Student Activities Program Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of a comprehensive student activities program that enhances campus life, promotes student engagement, and fosters leadership development. This position involves overseeing student organizations, planning campus events, and collaborating with various departments to provide co-curricular opportunities that support student retention, satisfaction, and personal growth. Essential Duties:
- Program Development & Management:
- Design, implement, and assess student activities programs, including social, cultural, recreational, and educational events.
- Develop and promote a wide range of campus events that reflect the diversity and interests of the student body.
- Lead major campus-wide events, including orientation, involvement fair, leadership retreats, and other activities.
- Ensure that all programs support the institutional mission and goals related to student engagement, inclusivity, and development.
- Manage all aspects of Comet's Cupboard, our on-campus food shelf, including budget, student and staff training, and compliance
- Student Leadership & Organization Support:
- Advise and support recognized student organizations, providing guidance on event planning, leadership development, and operational processes.
- Oversee the recognition and training of student leaders and organizations through key events such as Student Leadership day, Involvement Fair, and bi-annual club trainings
- Run the Ignite leadership program to foster skills such as teamwork, conflict resolution, and adaptability.
- Budget & Resource Management:
- Develop, manage, and monitor budgets related to student activities and student organizations.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet student needs while ensuring compliance with institutional policies.
- Identify external funding opportunities, such as grants or partnerships, to enhance program offerings.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with academic departments, campus services, and other stakeholders to integrate co-curricular programming that complements students' academic experiences.
- Serve as a liaison between the administration and students, advocating for student needs and concerns.
- Establish and maintain relationships with external vendors, performers, and community organizations to enhance program quality and resources.
- Supervision & Staff Development:
- Hire, train, and supervise graduate assistants and student staff involved in student activities and programming.
- Foster a positive working environment that promotes teamwork, creativity, and accountability.
- Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for staff and student leaders.
- Assessment & Reporting:
- Conduct regular assessments of student activities programs to ensure effectiveness and alignment with student needs.
- Prepare annual reports summarizing program achievements, attendance, and outcomes.
- Utilize student feedback to make data-driven decisions for future programming improvements.
Education & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree; Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Educational Leadership, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of professional experience in student activities, campus programming, or a related area within higher education.

- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.

- Experience with budget management and financial planning.
- Proficiency in event planning software, project management tools, and social media platforms.
- Preferred: Previous experience advising student organizations or working with student government.
- Preferred: Familiarity with student leadership development frameworks.
- Preferred: Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in student programming.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for events.
- Some travel may be required for conferences or events.
